Felicitas Rohden: Where The Sun Sets Blue

Where The Sun Sets Blue is an artist's book developed in tandem with the interactive website http://www.wherethesunsetsblue.com.

The book offers insight into the world of scientists working at the frontiers of human experience and perception. The project is based on a year-long correspondence between scientist Sukjin Han, who was commander of NASA's Hi-SeAS Mars Mission VI, and visual artist Felicitas Rohden. The dialogue brings to light many sensory and emotional experiences such as isolation, distance and the unknown.

This limited artist's edition consists of six round books, a blue slipcase and a poster, and is packaged in a red linen box. Each book is written and designed from the perspective of the five senses: taste, smell, hearing, touch, sight and synesthesia.

Felicitas Rohden personally presented a copy to the University Library. It is available under 80 KEBR 21 in the library's treasure display case.
