Secondary publication

In line with the principles of Open Science, the University Library supports you in making your research findings accessible to a wide audience.

Through secondary publication, you can make your publications that are not currently open access freely available and publish them on open-access platforms such as the institutional repository HSDopus.

This offers several advantages:

  • Your research is freely accessible worldwide.

  • You increase the visibility and reach of your work.

Here's how the secondary publication service works:
  1. Contact us: Please send information about your publications or a list of your publications to: opus.bibliothek@hs-duesseldorf.de.
Or submit a new publication yourself via the institutional repository HSDopus

  2. Review: We review which titles can be republished and under what conditions (e.g., permitted versions, embargo lists).

  3. Feedback and consent: You will receive detailed feedback. Once you have given your approval, we will prepare the republication.

  4. Support: Bei| If needed, we can help you obtain the necessary versions (e.g. permitted versions, embargo lists).

  5. Communication with publishers: If necessary, we will handle communication with publishers on your behalf to clarify the terms.

  6. Publication: Once approved, we will publish your work on the institutional repository HSDopus, in compliance with all requirements, including embargo periods.

In addition, we are happy to help you make your publications more visible by creating a publication list. When you submit your publication list to HSDopus, we will let you know if any articles are potentially eligible for secondary publication.
