The University Library recommends that you apply for an ORCID iD as a unique identifier for yourself as an author.
The Open Researcher and Contributor iD, or ORCID for short, is an internationally recognized identifier for scientists, researchers, and authors. It provides a unique link between publications and other research outputs and the respective person.
For you as a researcher, this offers the following benefits:
- Control over your own data
- Better visibility for your research
- Clear identification of your research output as belonging to you as a researcher
- A better overview of your data in the field of scientific publishing
- A record of your publications on an independent platform—regardless of institutional affiliation or changes in employment
- When submitting publications to publishers and applying for funding from funding agencies, it is helpful to include your ORCID
- Better networking in scientific communication processes
- Minimal administrative effort once the personal record has been set up
To ensure that your information is correctly assigned, please specify your affiliation with Hochschule Düsseldorf (Hochschule Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences) in your ORCID profile.
