Charges and fees

In case of late return of items:

  • up to 10 days delay per item: 2 EUR
  • up to 20 days delay per item: 5 EUR
  • up to 30 days delay per item: 10 EUR
  • more than 30 days delay per item: 20 EUR

  • in case of late return of presence copy/course-specific books/journals, per day and item: 2 EUR


In case of late return of keys for permanent lockers:
  • up to 10 days delay per key for permanent lockers: 2 EUR
  • up to 10 days delay per key for permanent lockers: 5 EUR
  • up to 10 days delay  per key for permanent lockers: 10 EUR
  • more than 30 days delay per key for permanent lockers: 20 EUR


In case of late return of locker cards :
  • per day and card: 2 EUR


​​Replacement issue for the library card:

  • 10 EUR

In case of lost, damage or failure to return item(s) or parts of item(s):

  • Administrative fee per item: 25 EUR
    In addition compensation for lost, not returned or damaged media will be charged.



For issuing the library card the annual fee applies for external users*:

  • 20 EUR

Fee for the information competence course for external users*:

  • per participant and information competence course: 10 EUR


* = The following user groups are excluded from paying the fees:

  • Members of the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf - HSD Düsseldorf
  • Former members of the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf - HSD Düsseldorf (former: Fachhochschule Düsseldorf)
  • Members of other public universities of the state of North-Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulen in Trägerschaft des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, german version)
  • Students of schools and trainees
  • Holders of a valid Düssel-Pass
  • Refugees who were exempted from paying the guest auditor's fee under the guest auditor programme of the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences

Please note: Officially recognised private universities are not exempt from the obligation to pay fees.

Payment of fees

Fees can be paid personally at the service desk of the University Library during our service hours (only cash payment possible).

Please note:
Borrowing, renewal and lending of the reserved media are no longer possible if the fee limit of 30 euros in the BIB account has been exceeded. In this case, the fees must be paid (at least partially).​
