Since 2024, Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences has been supporting open-access first publications (journal articles, books, and contributions to anthologies).
For 2026–2027, the Open Access Publication Fund is based on a co-funding model.
The University Library administers the Open Access Publication Fund and provides a base amount, which is supplemented by funds from the departments and institutes.
Funding conditions and application submission

Eligible to apply are members of the HSD in accordance with
§ 9 HG NRW who are listed as the submitting or corresponding author at the time of manuscript submission and invoicing.

HSD authors benefit from discounts on open-access publication fees
These discounts are made possible through direct agreements between the publishers and the BIB.
Documentation and Transparency
Funded publications are recorded in the institutional repository HSDopus, and participation in the OpenAPC Initiative ensures cost transparency.
Additional Funding Opportunities for Doctoral Students in the NRW Promotion College (PK NRW)
Publication grants may be applied for independently of the Open Access Publication Fund.
