Zotero - Free literature management programn
Zotero is a reference management and knowledge organization software that allows you to import and manage bibliographic references and generate formatted bibliographies in your preferred citation style with the click of a button. In addition, Zotero lets you read and annotate PDF documents and create notes, which you can then organize in various ways.
The University Library offers training and consultation on working with Zotero.
Installation:
You can install Zotero for free. There is also a Zotero connector available for various browsers (e.g., Firefox, Chrome). You can download both for free here.
Zotero is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux, as well as an app for iOS and Android..
Program functions:
- Storage of a wide variety of document types (books, articles, etc.)
- Automatic generation of the reference list in the citation style of your choice
- Inserting citations in the text (= using Zotero in Word and LibreOffice)
- Reading, Commenting and Extracting from PDF Documents
- Creating Collections
- Creating and Managing Notes
- Assigning titles and notes to thematic areas using the tagging feature
